FAQ’s

Q: Who is Friendship Circle for?

A: Friendship Circle of Charlotte is for anyone in the Jewish community who needs a friend. Children with special needs and their families form a significant part of our organization, as do typically developing teens. Brought together by friendship and trust, children with special needs and our Teen Friends form a warm and welcoming community.

Q: What does Friendship Circle do?

A: Friendship Circle offers weekly programs for our special friends to enjoy together. Friendship Circle‟s mission is to integrate children with special needs into a warm and accepting community, and to provide social, therapeutic and respite programs for them and their families.

Q: What do Friendship Circle Teen Friends do?

A: As part of the “Friends@Home” program Teen Friends visit the home of a child with special needs, their “Special Friend” with the mission of becoming their BEST FRIEND! Our Special Friends have parents, siblings, teachers and doctors just like you do. All they’re missing is a true friend. We also have weekly Group Programs on Sundays where our Friends come together to have fun.

Q: How old must I be to be a Teen Friend?

A: Our Teen Friends are High School age, 9th-12th grade.

Q: Is there a commitment I have to make to get involved?

A: Teen Friends who sign up for the “Friends@Home” program must commit to weekly, hour-long, visits for the duration of the CMS school year. (Friends@Home doesn’t meet on Shabbat, during School Breaks, and on Jewish Holidays) Make sure you are ready for this year-long commitment before you sign up.
